Produced from Swiss wood

Summary:
66 - 100 % of the wood used must be grown in Switzerland. Processing can also take place in neighbouring countries.

In order to support the Swiss forest, we have introduced the "Produced from Swiss wood" label. With this label, we want to promote the sustainable use of Swiss wood. Due to the lack of industrial capacity in Switzerland, these products are also produced in neighbouring countries. The products consist of at least 66% Swiss wood. Proven quantity balancing (similar to FSC®-Mix) can be provided exclusively by our partner suppliers.

You can find more information on the Produced from Swiss wood website.

Low-emission products

Summary:
Ensures a good indoor climate when used correctly.

  • Formaldehyde limit value ≤ 0.036 mg/m3
  • The products are FSC® or PEFC certified

Low-emission products that are based on Minergie-Eco® test criteria and comply with our limit values are labelled with the butterfly label.

In today's society, work and leisure increasingly take place in closed, well-insulated, almost airtight rooms. As a result, rooms can accumulate high levels of organic compounds (VOCs). A good indoor climate has a direct influence on our quality of life. The type and quantity of gaseous VOC emissions are particularly important for indoor air quality. VOCs are volatile organic substances that change from a liquid to a gaseous state at room temperature. The effect of formaldehyde and other organic compounds can lead to odour sensations and cause irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat. Further effects on the nervous system, including long-term damage (changes to DNA), cannot be ruled out either.

The butterfly label serves as a guide when selecting tested products that can be used indoors without hesitation if planned correctly and processed professionally, subject to certain points. We can provide you with the corresponding certificate on request.

Swiss wood

Summary:
60 - 100 % (depending on the product) of the wood used must be grown in Switzerland and the main processing steps must take place in Switzerland.

The Swiss wood label offers Swiss carpenters, woodworkers, wood workshops and other wood-processing companies an excellent opportunity to recommend the advantages of local timber products. It proves that the wood comes from Switzerland and has been processed in Switzerland by well-trained employees to the highest quality. The Swiss wood label is passed on from one processing stage to the next, starting from the forest, along the processing chain of authorised companies. This also ensures traceability of origin - from the Swiss forest to the finished product or object.

You too can use the Swiss wood label

The Swiss Wood label is simple, clear and cost-effective. It makes it clear at first glance that you are offering Swiss quality products. This allows you to position yourself in the market and stand out from competitors and imported products.

FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council)

Abstract:
Internationally recognised standard for responsible forest management.

The best-known use of the FSC® trademark is for labelling FSC-certified products. In this way, FSC-certified companies show that the materials used in their products comply with the FSC rules. Only certified materials from responsible forestry, controlled wood or recycled material may be used - in the permitted composition corresponding to the label. The trademarks are also used by FSC-certified companies in advertising. As the FSC trademarks are registered and protected, companies that are not certified can use the trademarks to advertise FSC-labelled finished products and their own commitment after agreeing a licence to use them. All companies wishing to use FSC trademarks must either be FSC-certified or have a valid trademark use licence. Organisations that are not commercially active, such as environmental organisations, educational institutions, media or organisations with FSC certification services, may use the FSC trademarks without a licence, subject to prior approval.

The FSC trademarks can be used in three ways:

  • On a product, packaging or in delivery documents
  • In communication and to promote FSC-certified products (e.g. on websites, flyers, brochures, trade fairs, in social media, adverts or on TV)
  • For educational purposes or in the press

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes)

Abstract:
Internationally recognised standard for responsible forest management.

The PEFC seal of the PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) guarantees that the wood used comes predominantly from sustainably managed forests. The PEFC seal is recommended for timber products as it contributes to ecological improvements in the cultivation and trade of wood. The seal is awarded on the basis of self-certification. Checks are carried out on a random basis. The chain of custody (COC), from the manufacturer/processor via the trade, is carried out by accredited organisations.

There are three variants of the PEFC seal:

  • PEFC-certified: The product contains at least 70% "PEFC-certified" material
  • PEFC-recycled: The product contains at least 70% "PEFC-certified" material from recycled sources
  • PEFC regional: The product contains 100 % "PEFC-certified" material
