What does your training look like?

What does your training look like?

The apprenticeship to become an EFZ commercial clerk lasts 3 years.

What happens on days when I don't work?

In addition to your apprenticeship at our company, you will attend vocational school for two days a week in the 1st and 2nd years and one day a week in the 3rd year.

The subject matter of the previous subjects such as German, French or Business & Society is now taught in the form of lessons in five areas of competence. The competences provide learners and those responsible for vocational training at the three learning locations (company, vocational school and inter-company courses) with a clear picture of the expectations and requirements of the training. At the vocational college, for example, you have the area of competences "Managing customer and supplier relationships" and are taught this topic in the areas of German, foreign languages and business & society. This makes it easier for you to apply the specialist knowledge you have learnt at school in your day-to-day work at our company.

The location of your vocational school depends on where you live and where you are training. During your apprenticeship, there will also be several days of inter-company courses where you can deepen your specialised knowledge.

All apprentices are taught in two foreign languages. However, you have the choice between these two levels:

  • Both foreign languages are completed at an advanced level (B1) (compulsory elective area: "Second foreign language")
  • One foreign language is completed at an advanced level (B1). The other foreign language is completed at a simpler level (oral B1, written A2) (compulsory elective area: "Individual project work")

If you have very good school results and would like to complete the vocational baccalaureate, you must complete both foreign languages at an advanced level (B1) and also attend vocational school for two days in the final year of your apprenticeship.

Options/specialisation for your final year of training

At the end of your second year of training, you will decide together with us which of the four options (finance, standard language, foreign language, technology) you would like to choose for your final year of training. This option relates to the specialisation of the subject in the vocational school.
