The small municipality of Geroldswil is located in the centre of the canton of Zurich, between the River Limmat, the southern slope of the Altberg with its Wiesentäli valley and the Hasleren hill. A place that is wonderful to live in. This was also the opinion of the local building owners, who had a new facade realised on their house in Geroldswil.
The facade was completed in the second half of 2024. The existing building volume underneath was merely renovated, but also partially rebuilt. While the fitters were still working on the facade, the client was already moving into the building inside.
The work was not affected by this, as Toni Fleischmann reports. The managing director of Fleischmann Holzbau AG, which was commissioned with the project, had recommended Nordic spruce for the formwork planned as a rear-ventilated facade. In his eyes, the type of wood was a perfect match for the desired surface treatment. The quality was important anyway: "We recommend that all our customers choose at least N1 quality."
It's all a question of colour
Choosing the right colour for the new facade was made easy for the client thanks to the comprehensive colour samples provided by Roland Brändli, surface technician at Kuratle & Jaecker. The Sunprimer HWP system and an HWP oil from Rubio Monocoat were selected - both in the colour Light Grey.
The choice of different widths for the facade panels was also made following the intensive consultations. The entire sampling process proved to be a major plus for our trading company. "With its sales, project consulting and surface technology departments, Kuratle & Jaecker was able to offer a whole range of customer-oriented solutions for this project," says Roland Brändli, summarising the range of services we provided.
