Presented: Our Bern location

11.02.2026

Our customers love Bern: it has one of the highest numbers of pick-up customers at Meier Logistik and many visitors to the Kuratle & Jaecker showroom - and a wonderful natural idyll in the neighbourhood. Introducing the location.

The Bern site supplies an extensive area. In the days of Hiag Handel AG, it even covered the whole of the Jura. Leuba Hiag has now taken over. Kuratle & Jaecker concentrates on customers in the German-speaking area - almost: because the familiar contact persons were so important to some French-speaking customers that they remained loyal to the Bern location. In 2014, Hiag Handel AG in Bern became Kuratle & Jaecker. Meier Logistik was added in 2019.

The site is located in the west of Bern, in the VI Bümpliz-Oberbottigen district.

Bern's natural idyll: From the forest to the world

The fact that the building once housed a brickworks can still be seen today in the neighbouring natural landscape: Clay was removed here to make bricks. This created countless hollows, which gave rise to ponds and pools in today's nature reserve. "There are an incredible number of animals here that you rarely see elsewhere," says Thomas Habegger, warehouse manager at Meier Logistik. Immanuel Hofmann, Head of Internal Sales at Kuratle & Jaecker, agrees: "In summer, the frogs croak - and then it gets really loud here," he laughs.

Individual customer wishes and a "wooden" background

We also fulfil individual customer requests from Bern. Take Striebig, for example: a digital Striebig is available in the warehouse for simple cuts. "The fact that a Meier Logistik employee is a qualified carpenter is of course worth its weight in gold," says Thomas. On a second machine, the customer Striebig, pick-up customers can cut to size themselves. The processing and cutting centre (BUZ) in Leibstadt takes care of more complex processing.

At Meier Logistik, eight employees take care of the stocked items (five for the lorries, one for the collection warehouse, two drivers are "on the road"). Two lorries make daily deliveries. Conversely, our most south-westerly German-speaking location receives goods from various locations. Every day, lorries come from Leibstadt, Füllinsdorf and Farvagny-le-Petit, and three times a week from Niederbipp. "With around 20 customers a day, Bern has one of the largest Meier Logistik pick-up warehouses in Switzerland," says Thomas. The halls are spacious and are rented on a flexible seasonal basis. One room is specially heated because this is where wood liquids such as varnishes or RubioMonocoat products are stored.

The good cooperation between Meier Logistik and Kuratle & Jaecker is underlined by the fact that colleagues from the sales department help out with cutting the panels when necessary. It is an advantage that almost all employees in the internal sales department have a "woodworking" background. "A good 90 per cent come from the trades," says Immanuel. It goes without saying that they sometimes pick up the tools themselves. When visitors are offered coffee in the showroom, the machine is placed on a table that an employee made himself from solid-coloured boards. It is also not uncommon for employees to have been with the company for many years. German Baeriswyl, Urs Sahli and Heinz Hämmerli in the field service and Elias Bürki (Key Account) have each been with the company for around 20 years. In logistics, Andreas Sahli has been a chauffeur for 35 years.

Showroom attracts visitors

Keyword showroom: Bern has a highly frequented exhibition. On average, six customers visit every day. The basis for this is the trust that has been built up with customers and end customers over the years. The focus is on flooring. The relevant sales consultants have their office right next door on the ground floor. The ecosystem is also lived out in the showroom and sister company Ticinoro (customised luxury floors in all types of wood) has its own exhibition. It was created at the request of Paul Sommer, Sales & Brand Manager Ticinoro.

Always available for his customers: Immanuel Hofmann at his workplace.

2025 was a successful year. The Bern site exceeded its budget. Immanuel sees one reason for the success in the solution-orientated approach of his long-standing team. One highlight was timber construction, which went well and was able to hold its own against concrete construction in the market.

Unlike at other locations, one employee is permanently assigned to the counter at the entrance area. Fritz Burri welcomes customers here. "Country house floorboards are particularly popular at the moment," he reveals. Daniel Lopes Morais changes departments every three months and is familiarising himself with the counter, flooring department and other sales areas on the upper floor.

Two languages, one goal: customer satisfaction in the Bern region

In the partly bilingual sales team above the offices of Managing Director Stefan Jungo and assistant Sabrina Niederfriniger, timber construction is the most strongly represented area with four employees, three employees are responsible for interior fittings, two for the flooring area, which requires a lot of advice, and two for the doors department.

Staffordshire bull terrier Nala completes the team. Sometimes she is joined by the second office dog, Nami. Around the turn of the year, everyone gets together for raclette. This strengthens the already good team spirit for the common goal of individually fulfilling customer wishes from Bern.
