Insight into e-commerce - stay in Buchs

At his own request and outside of the regular training programme, Leandro Cardinale, a third-year mediamatician, was able to spend two weeks in the e-commerce department at the Buchs site.

This gave him the opportunity to gain additional insights into an area that he had hardly known before. "As I had only had a few points of contact with the web shop so far, this stay gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and gain a deeper insight into the processes."

To begin with, he received a comprehensive introduction to the web shop. Leandro familiarised himself with both the user interface and the backend. He was able to experience at first hand how content and processes are managed in the background.

During the two weeks, he was able to work on various projects, including testing the new zone concept. "I was also able to see how problems are analysed and solved when processing support tickets in e-commerce."

Lots of information - and what Leandro was allowed to do for the first time

He found it particularly interesting to experience the entire order process at Kuratle & Jaecker - from receiving an order to processing and finalising it. "An order involves many steps in different departments," Leandro says, impressed.

He also gained an insight into the sales department in Buchs and learnt about everyday working life. Conversely, he was also introduced to his own department, Corporate Communications. This resulted in a mutual exchange with valuable information for both sides.

Leandro receives tips and information from Michael Pletscher.

"Finally, I had the opportunity to take photos of the new site image and work on a practical level," says our apprentice mediamatician. "The two weeks in e-commerce were a very valuable experience for me." He concludes that the time really helped him to better understand the web shop and the associated processes.
