Introducing: Our Basel office

Basel’s got it all! Whatever’s missing from the building site, carpenters, roofers and others can find it right at our collection point in Basel – quickly and ‘just in time’. A year has passed since the successful handover from Thüring AG to Kuratle & Jaecker at the Dreispitz in Basel was completed. A look at the current situation.

Right in the thick of things: anyone visiting our site in Basel finds themselves straight in the heart of our premises – in the shop. A space like this, set up like a traditional shop, is unique to Basel. You only need to spend a few minutes here to meet tradespeople who have just come from the building site to Mailand-Strasse and need immediate help – and that is exactly what our team in Basel is on hand for.

Oils, varnishes, grout, parquet adhesive, primers, vapour barriers, plinth screws: our range covers practically every need. How does it work? “We have everything in stock in smaller quantities,” says Julia Kristiansen, a qualified carpenter who, together with Francesco Capobianco, is solely responsible for the shop.

Around 70 per cent of customers drop in here on the spur of the moment. “But the tradespeople have to get straight back to the building site. Our speed is therefore our big advantage,” agrees Francesco, greeting the next customer. In Basel, things never stand still: even pre-orders are often for quick pick-ups, served ‘just in time’ on the same day: ordered in the morning, collected in the evening – that’s how business works at our city centre location.

We work very closely with our neighbouring site in Füllinsdorf (BL). This enables us to provide bespoke solutions for our customers. The smaller team in Basel mainly covers the doors and flooring sectors. They help each other out. It works, “because we’re a good team,” says Julia.

Orders placed via the online shop, on the other hand, are handled by Füllinsdorf. The sales team at the Basel Dreispitz branch also receives support from the larger site in Basel-Landschaft when dealing with calls. Most recently, Kevin Felder has managed to bridge the gap between the sites: the team leader at the counter in Füllinsdorf is also responsible for the internal sales team in Basel in his dual role. He is committed to a high level of customer focus and strong internal communication.

All in all, a collaborative effort across the Basel-Landschaft region in the service of our customers. Speaking of customer proximity: the entire Basel team is located on the ground floor – and thus close to the shop. This has enabled other office spaces in the building to be let.

“Every future has its origins,” said Roger Kuratle on the occasion of the company’s succession in April 2025. Since then, many a tradesman from the town has been delighted to find that they no longer have to make the long journey to Füllinsdorf. Now the right solution is just around the corner. And this has also been evident in recent months: many a regular customer of Thüring AG remained loyal to their long-standing advisor following the company succession, who now works for Kuratle & Jaecker. This is because all employees were able to stay with the company in 2025.

Our Basel team pulls together for our clients. This is also reflected in a strong team spirit. Whether it’s a barbecue at someone’s home, a group bowling session or organising a dinner: former colleagues sometimes join in these voluntary events – successfully building a bridge to the history of our newest branch.
