My two-week internship in HR, accounting and marketing

26.11.2025

Hello everyone, my name is Helena Obradovic and I am currently in my third year of training as a commercial clerk EFZ in Märstetten. I am delighted to tell you about my two-week internship in Leibstadt.

I am now in my fifth semester and therefore in my final year of training. So far, I have gained almost exclusively experience in internal sales.

As part of the commercial training reform, it has become more important to visit different departments. That is why, in consultation with my practical trainer (Michèle Schranz), my vocational trainer (Jeaneau Aeby) and Andrea Erb, I decided to complete a two-week internship in HR – with the aim of acquiring the necessary knowledge in the time available. At the same time, I was able to spend two days in accounting and half a day in marketing.

First week (29 September 2025 – 3 October 2025) HR + Marketing

At the beginning of my internship, I was warmly welcomed by the HR team. They explained to me in detail who was responsible for which area. With this information, I was able to get involved early on. I found this particularly beneficial because it allowed me to gain the most practical knowledge.

I was allowed to participate in everything from new hires, departures and changes to the creation of apprenticeship contracts. Among the various tasks, I found the classification and evaluation of applicants particularly impressive. This helps you develop a keen sense of what to look for in an application and what may not necessarily be an advantage for a particular position.

During quiet periods, I was able to continue working on my practical assignments for the HR department, among other things. The content of these practical assignments largely formed the basis for the HR internship.

Getting a taste of HR: Helena helped with questions.

On Friday of the first week, I also had the opportunity to gain an insight into the marketing department as part of two practical assignments. There, I was able to learn more about marketing and the associated technical terms.

With this knowledge, I was tasked with preparing a social media post for the apprenticeship as a mediamatician EFZ. Finally, with the help of marketing specialist Diana Bosle, I was able to design the post in Adobe InDesign. I tried to incorporate modernity, professionalism and aesthetics into the design.

Second week (06.10.25 – 10.10.25) Accounting + HR

At the beginning of the second week, I spent two days in the accounting department. I was able to successfully complete this task with Dominik Scholl. With the necessary background information, I was soon able to post account statements myself under Dominik‘s supervision. With each posting, it became easier for me to understand the next step.

We also looked at which components are important for creating an invoice, how and by whom the cash books are kept, and we discussed the role that accounting plays in this.

Any outstanding issues will be resolved promptly.

Armed with this knowledge, I returned to the HR department to complete the last three days of my internship. These three days were mainly spent completing the practical assignments and the report. In between, however, I still carried out various tasks in HR with the support of my practical trainer Vanessa Weiss. The collaboration was extremely varied!

With this in mind, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the HR team and everyone else involved. I was able to learn a great deal and gain a wealth of practical experience.
